Epic Classic on Athens ending the 2024 NTXKC Season

What an epic battle between all the anglers and the elements on the last event of the year for the North Texas Kayak Championships. We had a total of 38 angler's compete to gain the 2st place trophy and also the Title of the "Angler of the Year" and "Rookie of the Year". The day started out beautifle, but changed to rough winds in the afternoon. Some very nice fish were caught, and a new Athens king was crowned for this year. Huge congrats to David Gurley for taking home 1st place and Big Bass with 104.75" and a giant 24"Lunker netting him a total of $1891 in prize money!

Bryan Howel got 2nd but his moves were big enough for him to leap frog in front of the Angler of the year leaders and take home the Angler of the Year prize! He actually tied with Mathew Flett, but lost in the tie breaker (largest regular season score). Bryan takes home $713 for 2nd Place for the Classic on Athens, but also $1000 for Angler of the year and a brand new Hobie Lynx!

Erick Simien took home 3rd and $315. Michael Cates took home 4th taking home $100. Keith Knutz took the Rookie of the year honors with a check for $500 and a new Newport NK 180 Pro.

Huge Thanks to all of our awesome sponsors!
