NTXKC BOARD MEMBERS

This page is to give credit where credit is due. Back in late 2015, after a pretty fun Tournament season, a few kayak anglers in the DFW had a discussion about what is wrong with with DFW Kayak tournaments. Then Jay Pershin did "the" post. What's Wrong with DFW Kayak Tournaments. Questioning on why was the DFW Kayak Tournament scene so scattered, with as many as 4 Kayak Shops that run separate tournaments. Why can't we be organized? How/Where do we start? That set a group of guys rolling and working on getting all the local shops working together. After a couple of meetings, some things worked and some didn't. So in 2016 we formed the North Texas Kayak Championships with the help of Aris Tsamis @ Mariner Sails and Tim Martin @ Backwoods. This was a huge success!!!

For 2019 we have Aris Tsamis and Mariner Sail's back another year for Shop Support. If any of the local shops are wanting to be a part of any future NTXKC events feel free to contact Duc Tran or any of the Board Members.

Here are the NTXKC Board Members, which are also the Founding Members of NTXKC.

Duc Tran - President - Tournament Director - NTXKC Foudning Member
Taught the love of fishing from his parents back when they lived in Arkansas fishing for stripers at the dams. Fished mostly for Stripers/hybrids with his family his whole life. Started to venture off online and read about all these crazy guys fishing in fantastic places with their kayaks in late 2011, picked up his first kayak "a Perception Pescadore 12" the following year. He now runs the Mariner Sail's Thursday Working Man's Tournaments, a free tournament sponsored by Mariner Sail's that helps introducing kayak anglers to Tournament Bass fishing. They meet up every Thursday during daylight savings time from 6-9. It's a great way for people just getting into the sport to meet people and make new fishing partners. From time to time you will most likely be fishing with DFW's best Kayak anglers because everyone comes out for a good time. He fishes other trails when he can, and enjoys every aspect of tournament life.

Jason Delfraisse - NTXKC Founding Member
Jason Delfraisse started bass fishing in his early childhood. He quickly found fishing to be one of his favorite things to do. Learning everything he could from his dad jumping at the opportunity to fish with him every chance he got. As time went on it became an obsession of Jason's. He was introduced to kayaks in 2013 and found that it was not only a great way to fish small ponds and rivers but also a fun way to fish larger lakes and rivers to access water otherwise unaccessible by bass boat. In 2015 Jason decided to try his hand competing in kayak bass fishing tournaments for an Angler of the Year title. That is when he won the AOY title in Capital City Kayak Fishing DFW circuit. The following year (2016) Jason tried to secure two AOY titles in two different trails. Although he was unsuccessful he did finish 2nd place in Kayak Fishing League  (KFL) and 3rd place in the inaugural North Texas Kayak Championship (NTXKC). All along the way Jason has competed in and contributed to several charitable fishing events and taught many others valuable fishing techniques in various fishing clinics. The whole time being supported and drove to succeed by his wonderful family.

Fishing has been an identifying hobby ever since his grandfather taught him as a young boy. After being introduced to kayaking, he found the two activities went hand in hand. Now he finds every opportunity to get out on the water. Jay lives in North Texas where he coaches gymnastics at a local high school. He is a 2006 graduate from the University of Texas with a degree in Kinesiology. "My enthusiasm continues to grow with my time on the water. I'm happy to share what I've experienced when kayaking, and fishing with anyone I meet." Jay is a member of tournament series governing body for the newly formed North Texas Kayak Championship. He regularly participates in local fishing tournaments and has several top finishes. He has supported many kayak charity events and social gatherings. Jay contributes to the kayak fishing section of the Texas Fishing Forum and the DFW kayak fishing group on Facebook.

Guillermo Gonzalez - NTXKC Founding Member
Guillermo Gonzalez was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and raised in South Florida. During his teenage years, he could be found way back in a brackish canal chasing Largemouth Bass, Peacock Bass, and Snook; or on an open flat in the middle of Everglades National Park stalking Redfish. Since moving to Fort Worth, he has acquired newfound love for kayak tournament fishing. In 2016 alone, he put a dent in the Texas kayak tournament scene with 7 wins and 2 angler of the year titles. While not bass fishing Guillermo enjoys fly fishing, spending time with his girlfriend and family, and of course, waterfowl hunting.

  2. Awesome online journal! Do you have any tips and indications for trying authors? I'm wanting to begin my own site soon yet I'm somewhat lost on everything. Would you propose beginning with a free stage like WordPress or go for a paid choice? There are such a large number of choices out there that I'm totally overpowered .. Any proposals? Much obliged! find out more
